" Dimitar Kovachev - Funky "

This is one of my favorite portrait projects. 

I've done this one for a day, probably because when I took the photo (from internet) of this man I already knew how will be looking in the end. Hope you understood what I wanted to say.

This guy is musician and kind of "businessman". When I say businessman please do not imagine man in suit. He is one of the people who is bringing famous music legends ( like Metallica, Sade, Roxette, Bon Jovi and many more ) or just famous music singers in Bulgaria. 

His name is Dimitar Kovachev - Funky. He was part of "VIP Brother -2012" few months ago where I had chance to see him not just as a Bulgarian celebrity. Funky was looking very honest with brilliant sense of humor. Than I decided to drawing him, may be because he was "part of my life" for two months and I liked him. Hopefully soon he will see this portrait of him and hopefully he will like it.

Hey everyone,

This is my latest portrait project. Two portraits of two very famous and loving people in Bulgaria. Their TV show is funny, interesting and helpful for many people in trouble in my country. I would say that they are kind of role model for many people. That's why I made this to show my respect to them. I've sent them this digital portraits by e-mail yesterday but still have no response. I hope this portraits will be nice surprise for them just before Christmas.

"Magga" - Portrait of music producer

One of my other "famous" decisions. I chose him to be part of my portrait collection when I saw him on " X-Factor"- Bulgaria. Actually he said something unusual for me to hear on Bulgarian tv. I forgot to add that he was one of the "X-Factor" jury. There was a guy who 'jumped' on the stage and Magga asked him: "What are you planning to sing?" and the boy answered  "Michael Jackson - Heal the world". Magga smiled and told him "You must know that Michael Jackson can sing just Michael Jackson. No one else can sing his music except him". 

That was my personal reason to drawing a caricature portrait of Magga Aliev. I am massive fan of Michael Jackson and quotes like this are making me 'drawing portraits' :-D.
The other good thing is that the man on the picture was very surprised when I gave it to him. He was happy when he saw this surprise and put it as facebook profile picture which was his turn to surprise me ... and believe me that was more than GRATE. Unbelievable and surreal.

"Slavi Show"- Slavi Trifanov and Georgi Milchev-Godgi

For me is pleasure to present one of my latest drawings. I haven't posted for a long time but now I'm back.

This is caricature portrait of two of the most famous people in Bulgaria.They are the major figures of "Slavi Show" (TV show) - Georgi Milchev-Godgi (left) and the boss- Slavi Trifanov (right).

This project is personal decision and try to make it the way you see it now. When I start drawing them I thought ...  "Easy one.Will draw it for a day or maximum two" ... 

I was so so wrong. Unfortunately they wasn't that easy, so I've done them for two weeks (with huge breaks due to other responsibilities). I hope this result will make people who knows them smile.

"The Cafe Boss"

For me is absolute pleasure to share with you my latest portrait. I've done it for two days ( with brakes of course ). The client is the boss of the biggest and most famous Cafe in Sittingbourne - United Kingdom. Hopefully he will like it. He haven't seen it yet. I am very exited to see his face.

This man is a one of the main supervisors of a big warehouse. As I know he is polite man, can understand difficult situations of his people and so on.

Self Portrait

Dear All,

Let me present you my latest portrait. It's still "hot" , 'cause I've just done it. 

The portrait is special for me, not because I've drawn myself ... it's because this is my way to show my RESPECT to the rock band D2. 

D2 is one of the most famous rock bands in Bulgaria, my country. They are serious part of my life. I have grown up as an artist at the same time when they was growing up as a rock band in my country. After time they become famous and more serious. 

They was a serious support for me during the time I was following them as a HUGE fan. When I say support I mean ART support. They made me feel special. I miss that time a lot ... the live concerts with their music  ... everything. It was special, It was magical ...

" Ain't happy about it" - this is what he usually says when he is walking around. It is like copyright sentence of him. He is polite and hard working man. Smoker ... and this is what I know about him.

Part Of Concept Project

Dear All,

Let me present little  parts of my future project " We are all humans and we are all different - Accept it "

I've started this project in a week ago. It's moving a bit slow and I'm not happy about it ... hopefully , soon  We ( including me ) will have chance to see it finished. It's nothing new. It's noting that you don't know already. The only difference is that you will see how I will present it. My way. 

The idea in a few sentences:

I am really tired of many people's expectation ( in life, not at work ), that makin' you depend of their opinion. I am sure that you understand for what exactly I am talking about. The opposite thing is that We actually expect many small things of other people's life and We are making them sad ... Why? Why it's so difficult to accept others the way they are? Are We that Good to tell others how to live their own life?

People forgot how important is to be Polite, Kind and Positive ... forgot how important is to make people around you happy, to give them a hand when they need it, to make them count on you ... 

So, this is ruffly the idea of my project. Please, understand ... it's not completed yet ... and when I finish it I'll explain it better.

I am very happy to present you my latest portrait of a celebrity. 

This month I was quite busy and I still have some technical problems, so this is the reason for not posting new drawings that often. 

Anyway,  I'm drawing constantly and I'm taking new challenges with every new project ( doesn't matter personal or client one ) .... so very soon you will be able to see many of my new works. 

By now, please enjoy this one, which is actually part of bigger composition but I still doubt to post it or not. I don't want to offend anyone with it, that' why.

It's all about what will happen with you when you start livin' in a circle.

Waking up - 5:00 o'clock in the morning... than quick coffee ... half open eyes and preparing yourself going to work which is killing you. Your working day is in a tree parts - First part, than Tea Break ... Second one .... than Lunch ... Third part ... than last Tea Break and than you pray to go home on time ... but the bad thing is that This never depends on you ... 

Unfortunately, isn't it?... 

Than you are driving angry on the way back home ... Dinner... bathroom ... than bed and ......

5:00 .... in the morning ... , 

same morning every day, every week, month, year....  

This is what gonna happen, if you are working in a place which is not suitable for you, place that you hate ... place which steals you life in front of you and put it in a circle and you even can't realize it ... 

After time you will become Zombie ... with no life, no friends ... NOTHING ...!

Celebrity - Portrait

This is my latest Portrait. I've just done it. I have always wanted to drawing this man and today was the perfect time. It wasn't that difficult as I expected to be and that's grate. Was completely pleasure ( as usual )... Hope people will recognize him...You, know.. this is important. So, who is he?

Haven't seen you for a long time. Ok, let me tell you about my latest portrait. This is portrait-caricature of Antonio Banderas. Hope you all will recognize him.

He is one of my favorite actors. Antonio for me is passion plus good warm eyes plus charm and wild tango. This is what I wanted to express in this portrait of him. Hope you will all see/feel this in it.

 

"In Love With Celebrity" - personal project

Can you imagine how many people, most of them between 15-24 ( let's say ) are in love with celebrities. They adore them, want to get married to them ... want to "own" them ... love them (sometimes ) more than everything. I was one of these people. I was , actually I would like to say still in love with Mr.Michael Jackson :-) 

So,I know what does mean this love, so pure, so sweet and so impossible. Just because of this I'm planing to make more drawings-portraits like this one to explain this Celeb-Love the only way I can do it - as a portraits.

Colleague Joke Portrait

This is a colleague joke portrait of one of the managers of a big food company. 

The portrait was done for about two weeks ( few hours a night ). I didn't have deadline for it, so I had more time to do it perfect. 
It was completely pleasure to work on this project, especially when you know that someone will be laughing like crazy seeing his-self like  portrait-caricature with this " REJECT " tape in his hands. I am looking forward to hear the comments when that man see his unexpected portrait.

Best Friend - Happy Birthday Portrait

Happy Birthday portrait from best friend to best friend. 

Portrait was done for about a week (1-2 hours a day). 

It was absolute pleasure to work on it and the reason for this is that me and my best friend ( an artist too ) in the past we have done many portraits like this for our birthdays. Was so funny and so special at the same time. It was long time ago but this project gave me chance to see my past for a little while. 

Huge "Thank you" to my client Gemma for giving me chance to be part of special moment like this - The Birthday of her best friend.

" The Colleague " - surprise

" The Colleague " portrait was surprise present for a young man working in one of the offices of huge company ( not allow to use the name of the company ). He actually didn't expect this. With this the other colleagues  wanted to show their respect to him, even if he is not working there for a long time.

"Personal Present"

For me is pleasure to show you my very last portrait. I've done it for a week ( because I was working only  few hours a day ). This is  present to my favorite actor from my country who was , is and will be  my inspiration forever and ever. 

I remember when I went for very first time on theater. I was about 16. I didn't know what to expect there. Marius Kurkinsky was playing something from A.P. Chekhov. I was completely blown away. I haven't feel something like this before. From that time I promised myself to start watch more theater.

Actually, Marius Kurkinsky showed me, somehow, the secret of the theater. The main idea and the reason to go there. That's why I decided to do this special portrait of him to him. 

This is my only way as an artist to show Mr. Marius Kurkinsky my respect of his theatrical art and how much he have been inspired me all over these years.

"Anniversary" - portrait

This is my last project already finished. My clients was asking me to make them a portrait for their first anniversary. The portraits are made for about three days. 

I decided to put on the picture background wall - paper.  I wanted "the sound" of the picture to looks like some kind of classic Russian realism style portrait. 

The couple is coming from Eastern Europe country so, that's why decided that this style will be very suitable for them ( as part of the history of their country ) plus this they are together for about 10 years - which means "classic" relationship . I wear them clothes of now time ( as  symbol of "new school" married couple ).

Caricatures Of Bulgarian Politicians

This is a personal portrait project. As a citizen of Bulgaria I care about my country's political situation. 

Bulgaria was under Communism for about 45 years until 1989. After this Communistic Party continue ruling the country under other name "Democracy". Same faces under new name. 

I am fed up with this. I still can not take it and understand how it is possible after 45 years silent pressure. Before '89 people were scared to speak free. Now it's 2012 and the situation is absolutely the same.

The project is not finished. These are three of Bulgarian major politic figures for the last 20 - 30 years. Bulgarian prime minister as a police dog; Bulgarian minister of the culture as a big monkey, and one of the "greatest" painters in my country (as a frog) who have always new that "The Party" is behind him.

These portraits-caricatures are my protest against all the these huge politic "mistakes" after 1989. I made them for one day each of it. Unfortunately they are just three by now, but hopefully soon they will be more.

Portrait of Arch. Vladislav Kostadinov

This is the final caricature of architect Vladislav Kostadinov. 

He contacted me to make him a portrait for a famous Bulgarian magazine where he was asked to write about his last architectural project. Arch.Vladislav Kostadinov is one of the new wave raises stars in Bulgarian contemporary architecture. He is the owner of  Studio 8 1/2   http://studio812.eu/ where you are welcome to see his work.

I made the portrait for two or three days. It took so long, because I was drawing 4-5 hours a day. The good thing is that the customer was very happy in the end.
